IPIC, RI Foundation, PEDP Award Third Round of Grant Funding

The Chamber’s IPIC Action Agenda hit full throttle this morning with the announcement of the third round grant award recipients.

The Chamber, in partnership with the RI Foundation and the  Providence Economic Development Partnership provided funds for these innovation investments totaling $110,000.  The grant money was distributed to seven knowledge economy business start up projects that have the potential to unleash local talent and increase the wealth and tax base in our area. The grants were given in the areas of: health care,  design, workforce development and entrepreneurship at the Cuisinart Center for Culinary Excellence at Johnson & Wales University.

“We had 34 dynamic proposals requesting funding,” said Chamber President Laurie White. “We are energized by the quality and breadth of the proposals and feel that we are well on our way in our efforts to showcase Providence as the Hub of Innovation.”

Joining Laurie in presenting today’s grant awards was RI Foundation President, Neil Steinberg, Chamber Chair Bill Hatfield, IPIC Board Chair Connie Howes and City of Providence Planning and Economic Development Director, Thom Deller.
