Knowledge District’s New Warren Alpert Medical Education Building

Janet Raymond, GPCC VP, had the pleasure of touring the new state-of-the-art Warren Alpert Medical Education Building, currently under construction in the Knowledge District of Providence. The tour was conducted by Dr. Edward Wing, Dean of Medicine and Biological Sciences at Brown University. Medical students will commence their studies in the facility on August 15th. The structure (which cost $45 million and employed 500 construction workers) will house lecture halls, class rooms, an anatomy suite, a clinical simulation center, modern study space, a library and integrated computer resources. The building is the former home of the Brier Manufacturing Company.

According to U.S. News & World Report, the Brown Medical School is ranked 34th in the nation and currently has approximately 414 medical students. The new Medical Education Building will serve as a catalyst for further economic development in the Knowledge District of Providence.
