Betaspring Showcases 2011 Tech and Design Entrepreneurs

GPCC attended last evening’s Betaspring Open House at the Rhode Island Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RICIE).   The event provided an opportunity for the class of 2011 to showcase their product concepts and introduce themselves to the Rhode Island community.  This year, 12 start-up companies earned the highly competitive grants for this mentorship driven accelerator program –eight of the teams awarded brought their business concepts into Rhode Island from out of state.

Admission to Betaspring is highly competitive—hundreds of companies apply each year.  The companies receive up to $20,000 in seed funding, three months of intensive top-notch mentorship and the chance to pitch to angel investors and venture capitalists at the end of the program in September.  To date, Betaspring graduates have created over 50 new jobs in Rhode Island.
