PBN Reports: FAA approves T.F. Green SW extension

WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration has approved the runway extension proposal that lengthens T.F. Green’s primary runway by 1,530 feet to a total of 8,700 feet, among other changes.

Identified as the “Preferred Alternative” by the FAA and the R.I. Airport Corporation, the plan also calls for the construction of new cargo and U.S. Postal Service facilities, a new fuel farm, an expansion of the passenger terminal, the demolition of a hanger, the shifting of the crosswind runway 100 feet to the north, as well as the shifting of roads and other changes.

The document, known as a “Record of Decision,” is available at www.vhb.com/pvd/eis, as well as beginning Sept. 30 at the FAA’s website, at www.faa.gov and libraries in Cranston, Providence and Warwick.
