195 Commission Tours Land Parcels in Preparation for Stategic Plan Development

On Saturday, November 5th, Janet Raymond, Senior Vice President of the Chamber participated in a tour of the land that will become available as a result of the relocation of Interstate 195. Participating in the outing were members of the 195 Development Commission, representatives from the RI Economic Development Corporation, Rhode Island Department of Transportation and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, as well as members of the public. The tour was part of a day-long strategic planning retreat for the new Commission. The tour provided an opportunity to see firsthand the parcels that will be available for development purposes as well as those parcels designated for public space. In addition, a new roadway system will be created reconnecting neighborhoods of Providence that were once divided by the old highway.
