INNOVATION PROVIDENCE IMPLEMENTATION COUNCIL (IPIC), GREATER PROVIDENCE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO MEASURE PROGRESS ON DEVELOPMENT OF RHODE ISLAND’S KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY AT FORUM

Today, The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Innovation Providence Implementation Council (IPIC) along with several partners, will highlight the continuation of the Knowledge Economy Roadmap Implementation Strategy. The event will include the release of a newly developed benchmarking tool for measuring Rhode Island’s ability to grow its knowledge-driven economy.

The focus of the discussion will be on the progress the community has made in the last year moving the Knowledge Economy forward, as well as the importance of continuing to invest in the most promising economic opportunities in the state, creating the workforce required to sustain and expand these industries, and nurturing Rhode Island’s entrepreneurial spirit. The event will feature 21 successful entrepreneurs who are driving innovation in the local marketplace.

The effort to build the Knowledge Economy has drawn the input and engagement of more than 500 people over the course of the last four years covering a wide spectrum of participation from young entrepreneurs, college and university leaders, medical researchers, business leaders, students, the public sector and labor.
