PROVIDENCE, R.I. The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce is once again partnering with When Work Works to recognize local employers that are making flexibility a priority in their organizations. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility by visiting  The deadline to apply is April 16, 2012.

The Sloan Awards are part of When Work Works, a research-based initiative to highlight how effective and flexible workplaces can yield positive business results and help employees succeed at work and at home. When Work Works is a joint partnership between the Families and Work Institute and The Society for Human Resource Management.

“The Chamber is pleased to once again be part of the When Work Works project,” said Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.  “In today’s workplace, flexibility is clearly a sound business decision that helps not only retain qualified employees, but also serves as a means of continued growth for the companies.”

Applications for this year’s awards are open to all businesses in the Providence area with 10 or more employees. Applicants will be evaluated in a two-step process, first comparing the company’s application to national representative data from the Families and Work Institute’s National Study of Employers, and then validating what employers report against employee responses. Those ranked in the highest scoring level will be named this year’s winners.

Winners will be presented with their awards at a future Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce event.
