Marketing is Dead?

With sluggish economic conditions here in RI and throughout the country, every successful sales transaction is scrutinized for replication.  How did we create that customer experience?  What was the tipping point for the purchase?

HBR’s Bill Lee suggests that traditional marketing is dead, siting several recent studies which look at the impact social media is having on the marketplace.  In his blog, Lee explores new promotion options and the possibilities of peer influence-based, community-oriented marketing;  which he believes holds much greater promise for creating sustained growth through authentic customer relationships.
